Biography:

My current work is driven by my passion to create sculptured silverware, jewellery and objects d’art. My inspiration comes from the natural world and the desire to create its sensuous shapes and flowing lines in silver and copper. I love the excitement of working directly onto the metal, transforming a flat sheet into a three dimensional form. Among the techniques I use are repousse and chasing, together with anticlastic raising and enamelling.

I have been a goldsmith for thirty years, but I have found a special satisfaction from working on this larger, more sculptural scale. Each piece is individual and hand crafted. Each one changes many times as it evolves and as my ideas develop. I find a mastery of the different techniques gives me a chance to express my creativity in new and often exciting ways. Each piece truly feels like a journey of discovery.

I have tried to express myself in strong, flowing lines and to capture the exquisite beauty of nature, whether it is something from the seabed, forest or flower garden. After a career devoted to the precision of fine jewellery, I feel I have discovered a larger landscape, with greater freedom, new challenges and absorbing satisfaction.
