The Goldsmiths Company

ADDRESS :

33 Park Street Bristol BS1 5NH

Biography:

After a varied working life, initially as a teacher, followed by a long and interesting career in arts administration, community arts and theatre, I went to University and emerged in 1993 with a degree in Jewellery and Silversmithing. My jewellery is inspired by personal and political beliefs drawn from my life experience. Traditional concepts such as ‘eternity and ‘identity’ are reworked in a contemporary form. ‘Change’ and ‘partnership’ are recurrent themes. Words are a major feature of the work - they are used as decoration and may be ambiguous in their meaning. Often words are split between two, three and four pieces so that what appears on the individual ring or bracelet is indecipherable and the marks only make sense when put together with another piece.

Acid Etching, casting, gold plating, stone setting, matting, polishing.
