Biography:

Established in 1969 Grant Macdonald have been providing silver and gold objects d’art for clients the world over for 40 years.  Renowned for creating items of the highest quality with consistent excellence they have built up over the years a dedicated international following.  Over 90% of pieces designed and created in-house by Grant Macdonald are exported and can be viewed in many private and public collections, from Middle Eastern royal courts to luxury yachts. Closer to home Grant Macdonald specialise in heraldic pieces for Livery Companies and the City of London, including badges, presentation gifts and tableware pieces.

The founder and Managing Director, Mr. Grant Macdonald is a former Prime Warden of the Goldsmith’s Company and he remains dedicated to ensuring a successful future for the next generation of aspiring silversmiths and designers.  As is practiced in his own workshop, Grant Macdonald is a strong believer in the advantages of combining the traditional skills of the craft with the latest technology to ensure that the silversmith’s trade continues to flourish in future decades.

Specialist Techniques:

In running one of the largest London based silversmith workshops ensures that Grant Macdonald have the broadest range of craft skills and specialist talent available.  Using the latest in-house computer controlled precious metal casting equipment together with rapid prototyping technology has enabled a quantum leap in the quality and speed of casting production.

As owners of Capital Lasers, Grant Macdonald have developed and perfected the laser cutting of precious metals over a period of 20 years.
