Irena Maria Varey

Designer

The Goldsmiths Company

ADDRESS :

Cambridge

Biography:

I had an excellent start, working with metals and learning basic techniques in commercial workshops in Latin America; today I appreciate it more and more. Now I have a parallel interest and qualifications in gemstones, and I am increasingly attracted by the colour of quality gemstones – including some used not too frequently in commercial jewellery – in combination with gold and silver. In addition, I get really excited by the subtleties of reticulated surfaces; I use them a lot in my work. To sum it up, I am looking to combine the impact of such subtly-treated metal surfaces with the colour of quality gemstones in warm, wearable, timeless pieces of jewellery.

Reticulation of gold and silver surfaces
