The Goldsmiths Company

ADDRESS :

Fife

Biography:

I have spent 35 years specialising in the refractory metals Titanium, Niobium, Tantalum and Zirconium. As well as working in Gold and Silver. Working with these four refractory metals makes it difficult to categorise my work as it does not fall into either the Gold or Silver sections. There are very few companies working with these metals and therefore this makes my work innovative and unique. Inspiration for my work comes essentially from extensive travel particularly in South East Asia as well as an obvious fascination for colour both pyramidal and natural. This combined with extensive research into the medical applications of refractory metals has led to some pioneering breakthroughs particularly in the field of maxilofacial re-constructive surgery.

Specialist Techniques:

The anodising of refractory metals Titanium, Niobium, Tantalum and Zirconium The casting of Gold and Silver onto refractory metals The raising, shaping and forming of Gold, Silver and refractory metals The welding of refractory metals The casting of refractory metals Vapour deposition and ionisation of thin film coatings
