Jenny Edge designs and creates silverware, jewellery and sculpture with natural flowing forms which show a strong sense of movement. These sculptural yet practical pieces are based on the forms that she observes from nature and are characterised by their fluid shapes which emphasise the specular nature of the metal. Jenny is a leading craftsman practising the metal forming technique of anticlastic raising which she uses to create these designs in gold and silver. Her jewellery and larger pieces, which include vases and candelabra, contain inner curves bringing out the three-dimensional nature of the piece. These are contrasted by the use of enamelling, gold-plating, oxidation, or patination. Naturally, such a combination of metal-forming and metal decorating techniques is very laborious and each piece takes many painstaking hours to create and bring to final fruition.
Jenny’s work may be made to private commission. Communication between the individual commissioning the piece and the artist ensures that the piece is entirely suited to the individual for which it is intended and will represent a true expression of the highest skill of the silversmith.
