Biography:

Maiko Nagayama was born in Tokyo and consequently inspired by new technology, scientific new discovery and human behaviour in 24 hours frantic environment. She developed her passion for design and art making from a very young age, peeling off wallpaper, creating shapes in her bedroom and sitting next to her mother drawing quietly on her mother's diary. She also observed her father's architecture works and interaction with inanimate objects. Maiko's British sojourn since 1999 broadened her mind and she graduated BA Jewellery design in Central Saint Martins in 2006. In 2009, Maiko established adventurous fine jewellery company. After collaborating with OSMAN in 2008, she developed her own vocabulary of futuristic unique forms, essentially abstract but evocative of cosmic and scientific world. GIA qualified gemmologist - Maiko choose each gem stones according to the concept and the story behind each collection. Intensely coloured precious stones such as blue and green blazing black opals, deep ocean sapphires, hand-carved jet and sky-like aquamarines drop colour onto sensual and radical forms. Maiko's unconventional fine jewellery draws out the beauty of your own identity.
